Must-Try, Exciting Adventures in Jasper, Alabama (and Don’t Forget the BBQ!)

Jasper, Alabama comes with a rich and vibrant history and was named after an American Revolutionary War hero, Sergeant William Jasper. This place has stories to tell, and it tells them through the many fun and extraordinary activities it has to offer.
Jasper has it all: outdoor fun, indoor play, daytime excitement or, for those night owls, there are plenty of top-notch activities for you, too. Here is just a taste (and a delicious one) of what you might see.
If you prefer to explore the indoor side of this marvelous place it has much to offer in this department.
● The First United Methodist Church is a must. This beautiful, white-marble church has a 40 ft. stained-glass dome in its ceiling that will take your breath away.
● You can also visit The Lily Pond and Art Gallery & Tearoom. Stop by this historical site and take in the charming artwork while you enjoy a cup of tea.
● Perhaps you are in the mood for dinner and a movie? Jasper has some of the finest Southern barbecue that Alabama has to offer. For the perfect night, pop into Jim ‘N Nick’s Bar-B-Q on your way to see a movie at Cobbs Movies 4 Theater.
● If you are more of a nightlife person swing by Alcove Lounge and enjoy live music, dancing and drinks.
For you outdoors lovers there is no shortage of things to do in Jasper.
● Lewis Smith Lake is an historical that attracts people from all over the state. This site has everything from trail running, fishing and swimming to all types of water sports. The 21,000-acre lake was created by the Lewis Smith Dam, which means there’s plenty of room for a wide range of activities.
● Jasper also has many delightful and stunning golf courses where you can spend a sunny day working on your back swing.
● Curry Golf Course is a nine-hole venue on Boardwalk Lane. Each hole is perfect for iron shots and short game.
● Riverbend Golf Course. This is a par 72 course with narrow fairways, ponds and hills to hit over.
● Musgrove Country Club is a private 18-hole course. The layout has bent-grass greens and bermuda fairways, and the club is complete with tennis courts and an Olympic-size swimming pool.
